Zelda Guide

This brand logo project comes from a hypothetical brief created by LogoCore. The client in this project is Zelda Guide, a publisher of videos, articles, and community events for fans of Nintendo's Legend of Zelda games. In the creative brief, it asked for the logo to be green to relate back to Link, the game's main hero.

1. Exploratory Phase

Research about Zelda

I researched the Legends of Zelda game and found images that would help inspire me to brainstorm logo ideas. These images included the pictures of Link, the Zelda logo, the Zelda crest, and the triforce symbol.

2. Sketch Phase

Get the ideas on paper

I drew 35 possible logo ideas that related to the brand's name or Legends of Zelda imagery. I explored the idea of reducing Zelda Guide to an acronym, "ZG." Eventually, I decided to simplify the logo even more and focused on "Z."

3. Design Phase

Get to work on Illustrator

I created a "Z" logo on Adobe Illustrator and made it modern and bold to fit with the modern consumer. Most of all, I related the logo back to the original Legends of Zelda branding with the serif at the top of the "Z."

Once I completed the logo, I created the logos as white on black, black on white; white on forest green, forest green on white. I selected the dark green colour so that it would show vividly on the merchandise. Since this was a for-fun project, I wanted the merchandise to not appear to have that "fan art" vibe, but something wearable and in style with streetwear trends.

4. Presentation Phase

Created mockups on Photoshop

I created product mockups using the new logo and vector art of Legends of Zelda's hero, Link. The logo was put on potential merchandise items that Zelda Guide could sell as products on their website, including a Zelda Guide collectible handbook with Link vector art on the cover. I also placed the logo on a forest green t-shirt for Zelda Guide fans to wear when they meet their friends to play their favourite Legends of Zelda game.
